The Misfits fixated on Marilyn Monroe as a symbol of how American pop culture elevates icons and then consumes them, with beauty inseparable from tragedy; born Norma Jeane Mortenson, her Hollywood name became a constructed myth, and referencing Mortenson or Mortensen points back to the real person beneath it, a name that also echoes mortician and carries intentional darkness; continuing this lineage, we intervened on an existing Marilyn photo shirt by introducing Bonezzy, his hands resting lightly on her shoulders, as a quiet reinterpretation made purely for the joy of expression.
